New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced Saturday that forward P.A. Parenteau has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Parenteau, 26, skated in two games with the Rangers and tallied his first career NHL goal on Wednesday against the Islanders. He returns to Hartford where has recorded eight goals and six assists for 14 points, along with 12 penalty minutes in nine games this season.

The Kings have assigned forward Trevor Lewis to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today. Lewis has played in five games with the Kings this season and has recorded zero points. Last season, he had three points in six games with the Kings, scoring his first NHL goal on Dec. 20, 2008 at Detroit.

The Avalanche announced today that the team has recalled forward Philippe Dupuis from the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. Dupuis has recorded four points in nine games for Lake Erie. In a related move, forward Matt Hendricks has been placed on the injured reserve list due to a groin injury. The Avalanche also announced today that goaltender Tyler Weiman has been reassigned to Lake Erie.

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that forward Dane Byers has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Byers has registered two goals and five points, along with 26 penalty minutes in nine games with Hartford this season. He ranks second on the team in penalty minutes, is tied for fourth in goals and eighth in points.

Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have re-assigned defenseman Sean Sullivan to their AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. Sullivan has recorded 2-8-10 and six penalty minutes in eight games for San Antonio this season. At the time of his recall on Oct. 23, his 10 points on the season led the Rampage and ranked T-3rd in the AHL.

The Blue Jackets have assigned defenseman Mathieu Roy to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus? AHL affiliate, GM Scott Howson announced tonight. Roy was added to the roster on emergency recall from Syracuse on October 3. He appeared in seven games with the club, tallying four assists. Prior to signing with the Blue Jackets as a free agent on July 14, 2009, he spent his five-year professional career in the Edmonton Oilers organization.

The Capitals say forward Quintin Laing has the swine flu, making him at least the third NHL player to be diagnosed with the illness this week, according to an Associated Press report on Wednesday.

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will carry the Olympic torch in his home province of Nova Scotia next month. He will run in the torch relay Nov. 18 in Halifax and represent Canada in the Olympic hockey tournament. "The torch relay will pass through so many communities and hands on the way to Vancouver, and I'm privileged to be part of that special group," said Crosby.

Oilers defenseman Ladislav Smid and Avalanche goaltender Peter Budaj both have the swine flu. Edmonton announced Smid's positive test after their 3-0 loss to Colorado. He played close to twenty minutes in the game. Earlier Tuesday, the Avalanche confirmed that backup goaltender Budaj had the swine flu. He did not travel with the team.
